Day 63 Cebu City, Cebu

My cousins took my sister and I around Cebu City. We stopped by Magellan's cross and explored the church next to it. The culture here is very strange because you'll end up seeing hints of foreign occupation (especially Spanish) everywhere. The thing is, Filipinos celebrate everything about their past. Even though most consider the Spanish occupation a tragedy (in the sense that Filipinos were treated as second rate citizens and a lot of Filipino culture was lost), they still revere Magellan's cross as a sacred place. Tomorrow we'll be going to Mactan Island where, as my Dad tells me, the first hero of the Philippines killed Magellan as an act of defiance against foreign sovereignty.

Here's some pictures!
